CoGent-box
Collections of Ghent develops tools and methods to connect citizens with existing cultural heritage from the collections of the five heritage institutions of Ghent: Ghent Archives, Design Museum Ghent, Huis van Alijn, Industry Museum Ghent and STAM. It invites citizens to enrich this heritage with their own objects, stories, photos…
One of those tools is the CoGent-box.
The CoGent-box is a digital experience space that travels through Ghent's neighbourhoods. It revives heritage objects by means of surprising storylines. Visitors can discover, experience and share their past with other residents of Ghent.
From April 2022 to February 2023 the CoGent-box made a voyage in three different districts in Ghent: Wondelgem, Watersportbaan-Ekkergem and Sluizeken-Tolhuis-Ham. At the end of its travels, the CoGent box will be given a permanent place in DING, the new wing of Design Museum Gent.
Stories in the CoGent box on the 180° story wall and touch tables.
In the CoGent box you can see, hear and enjoy a number of stories on the story wall. As a visitor, you can pick the story and the number of chapters you want to (re) experience through luminous spheres on the floor and a personal QR code.
New stories are regularly created and the stories in the box change. It is therefore definitely worth visiting the CoGent box more than once.
On three different touch tables you can dive further into the online Collections of Ghent and view every asset of the Collection in its smallest details and with its metatags and contextual information.
